THINGS TO SEE & DO
Come aboard “Whale One” Mooloolaba for the adventure of a lifetime! Throughout June, July and August we seek out these magnificent whales on their migration to tropical North Queensland waters to breed and mate. From mid August through September, October and November the humpback whales slowly head back south to Antarctica with their calves, often resting and playing along the way. The waters out from Mooloolaba are a favourite place to do just this so get ready for the best views and live whale entertainment you’ll ever see!
The Sunshine Coast offers some of the best beaches for swimming, surfing and shopping around. The nearest beaches are:
Mooloolaba Beach: Mooloolaba beach is great for families. There’s plenty of parking, a playground just back from the beach and some great seafood restaurants.
Alexandra Headlands: "Alex" has a great wave to learn to surf and a well equipped skate park. There's an awesome kiosk under the Surf Club with great views and a big grassed area with BBQ's and a playground for the kids.
Maroochydore: If you like somewhere quiet, head to Maroochydore. A locals beach with good banks for more experienced surfers. Its 100m from great restaurants and shopping on Cotton Tree Parade and King Street. Maroochydore beach is a "dogs on a lead" zone.
Glass House Mountains
The Glass House Mountains are a series of steep-sided volcanic plugs which dominate the landscape of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Anytime of the year is a great time to bushwalk or picnic in the beautiful Glass House Mountains National Park. We recommend Mt Coolum for spectacular views of the Sunshine Coast.
Visit the Original Eumundi Markets if you’re looking for something different, something handmade, something special …
You’ll find original artworks, sculptures, furniture, handmade toys, homewares, and skincare, as well as cutting edge fashion and jewellery by local designers, all guided by our ethos of “we make it, bake it, grow it, sew it”.
Noosa Heads combines all the finer things in life with stunning beaches offset by the beauty of Noosa National Park.
Noosa boasts one of Australia’s most elegant shopping strips. Hastings Street is a relaxed, pedestrian-friendly, beachside thoroughfare that is a haven for visitors who flock to the resort accommodation, cosmopolitan cafés, designer shops and alfresco dining. Hike across Noosa National Park's cliffs and forests, canoe through the Noosa River Everglades, kayak across the open sea or just bask in the sunshine on golden sand that stretches and sparkles for miles.
The Big Kart Track
The Big Kart Track on QLD's Sunshine Coast is the largest commercial go-kart track in Australia. With tracks for kids to cater to the whole family combined with the main attraction - an international standard race track, capable of running 50 go-karts at one time, with 1.2km of track - this venue has got it all. Straights, bends, chicanes, and hair-rising hairpins. Find the rush you desire.
The Sunshine Castle is a medieval museum/tourist attraction and function venue. It promotes history, encourages education and facilitates unique celebrations. Much in the tradition of Castles all around the world the Sunshine Castle captures the imagination of old and young alike. A stand out landmark in this location this Norman style Castle, with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers and drawbridge is totally unique in Australia.
